...To Be Determined...

Everyone is invited - attending meetings is the best way to get involved with Habitat for Humanity!

...About us...

What is Habitat for Humanity?

It is an international non-profit organization with the goal of eliminating substandard housing worldwide. Habitat was founded in 1976 by Millard Fuller as an ecumenical housing ministry. The Northwoods Affiliate (located in Bemidji) was founded in 1990.

What is an Affiliate?

An affiliate is the incorporated, local, nonprofit Habitat for Humanity organization charged with carrying out Habitat for Humanity International’s (HFHI) mission at the grass-roots level.

What is a Campus Chapter?

A campus chapter is a student led and student initiated organization.  We, the BSU Chapter, work with the Northwoods Habitat to help them meet their goals of building simple, decent, affordable homes in Beltrami and Clearwater Counties. As a campus chapter we are asked to fundraise for our local affiliate, educate and advocate the community on the need for affordable housing, and also help build the homes with Habitat.

How does Habitat work?

Northwoods Habitat for Humanity builds homes in Beltrami and Clearwater counties through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials.  Habitat for Humanity partners with families in need to build simple, decent, affordable homes. The homes are sold to partner families at NO profit and are financed with NO interest mortgages.  Habitat is not a give-away program. In addition to making a down payment and monthly mortgage payments, homeowner families invest hundreds of hours of their own labor (sweat equity) into building their homes and the homes of others.
