We Need Your Help VOLUNTEER!

Women Build is a Habitat for Humanity International program that encourages women to make a difference by building homes and communities. Women Build provides an environment in which women can feel comfortable learning construction skills they might not otherwise have the opportunity to learn. Habitat affiliates nurture, recruit and train women to build and maintain decent, healthy and affordable homes. Women Build is about more than women building homes. It is about women making a commitment to their communities by making affordable housing a matter of conscience and action. Women not only provide the labor to build the home, they raise the funds necessary to purchase material that is not donated.

Women Build 2010?

Steering Committee is being formed. Next meeting is Wednesday, June 16th at noon at The Cabin Coffeehouse and Cafe. We need help with the following committees. Please call if you are unable to attend and would like to help - 751-4649

TEAM DESCRIPTIONS

Steering Committee (5) This committee will work closely with the following teams in an effort to coordinate fundraising, PR, Special Events, and Volunteers.  At least one committee member will serve on each of the Teams to ensure a coordinated effort.    The committee will meet with Habitat Staff and the Construction Manager to make decisions regarding floor plan, sub-contracted bids, in-kind donation of material, build schedule, etc.

Fund-Raising Team (5) This team contact possible donors/sponsors from a current list, being careful to avoid using resources already designated for other Habitat projects.  The Team will develop a fundraising plan, working from previous events.  With the steering committee, donor levels, fundraising goals and strategies will be developed.

Public Relations/Media Team (3) -Chair, PJ Casinelli -The key function of this team is to educate, not merely advertise.  This team is responsible for crafting key messages, developing a media plan, and distributing key messages within an appropriate and meaningful timeline.  A spokesperson will be identified for media contact.

Volunteer Team (3-5) One of the most challenging and satisfying, this team will coordinate volunteers during the event.  Strong organizational, email, and people skills are a must.  This team will structure volunteer crews and develop ways to accommodate possible out of town crews.  The team will be responsible for contacting build team leaders in case of inclement weather or delays.

Special Events Team (3-5) -Chair, Sherri Clapp -This team will coordinate events designed to publicize, raise funds, or entertain/thank volunteers.  The team will work closely with the Fund-raising and PR Teams to ensure adequate publicity.  Key events include groundbreaking ceremony, daily devotions, home dedication ceremony, and other celebrations.
